Detectives with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office charged a man with suspicion of murder after allegedly shooting the driver of a car he was traveling in, causing it to crash into the Sacramento River, California. Sheriff’s officials said that the incident involving Mandiko Kwadzo, 27, happened near Elk Grove on Monday night, July 27th.
Facts from the car accident report showed the officers with the California Highway Patrol, and firefighters with the Sacramento Fire Department responded to the crash site after a call about the occurrence came in around 9:30 p.m. The police said that a witness saw the vehicle leaving the road and partially submerging into the river along the 8700-block of River Road.

The witness helped four children, and a man exit the vehicle, but the female driver remained in her seat. While giving the victim first aid, the firefighters saw that she suffered a gunshot wound to her upper body, and they did not find any other injuries. The sheriff’s office said that they pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
Further investigation uncovered that the victim and Kwadzo were in a domestic relationship and had children in common. The detectives believe that the suspect shot the woman while she was driving, causing the accident. They took the West Sacramento resident into custody, and as of Tuesday, July 28th, they were still holding him at the Sacramento County Main Jail without bail.
Kwadzo would make his first court appearance on the murder charge on Thursday, July 30th. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office would release the victim’s name after notifying her next-of-kin. The investigation remains active.
