A motor vehicle accident or a
traffic collision occurs when a vehicle collides with another, a tree, an
object, motorcycle, bicycle, train, or a human being. It could lead to minor,
severe, or fatal wounds, depending on the collision’s force or impact. It could
also result in legal consequences for the person with the highest liability.
Standard charges arising from car
accidents are hit-and-run, driving under the influence, and vehicular
manslaughter. The trio are criminal offenses, and a person can get charged with
one or all of them at the same time. A person can also get tried for traffic
offenses like running red lights, driving the wrong way, lane splitting, or
failure to yield.
Offenders can face civil lawsuits for personal injury or wrongful death, and compensate the victim for the loss suffered. Compensation covers medical bills, loss of income, loss of consortium, emotional and psychological trauma, and where applicable, loss of limb.
