Auto-motorcycle accidents are one of the causes of crash-related deaths, with the motorcyclist ending up the fatal victim. To reduce the death rate of the riders of the two-wheeled vehicle, the California Department of Motor Vehicles in its Motorcycle Handbook provides safety tips and guidelines for motorcyclists to follow.
A rider must start with the right motorcycle for him or her, read the owner’s manual before riding, be familiar with the bike control, check the bike before riding, keep it in safe conditions, and avoid add-ons and modifications that make the bike harder to handle. Additionally, have tires with sufficient tread and air pressure, operable headlights, taillights, brake lights, and turn signals, front and rear brakes, a horn, and a mirror.
