A Honda was traveling behind the vehicle, and behind it was a Subaru driven by King. The victim was able to stop in time to avoid a collision, but a Ford slammed into his vehicle. The California Highway Patrol said that medical personnel took the man to Mission Hospital where he died.
The crash report did not disclose if any of the other motorists involved in the collision suffered any injury. The initial report showed that five cars, including a pedestrian, were involved in the accident, but the CHP debunked it, saying there was no pedestrian involved. The investigation is ongoing to determine what caused the driver of the BMW to stop abruptly.
Motor vehicle accidents occur for otherwise avoidable reasons. Drivers should put adequate distance between themselves and other vehicles on the road, yield when necessary, stick to the right side of the lane, and stop only in the path meant for slow traffic.
