The preliminary investigation uncovered that Fresia was driving the Tundra, heading south on R-7 and 20. For unknown reasons, the teenager crossed the grassy median strip sideways putting it in the path of the northbound Enclave driven by Lemaire.
The two, who were the only occupants of their respective vehicles, sustained different degrees of injuries. LPD Chief Stephen O’Brien said that Lemaire’s wounds were not life-threatening, and the medics took the two drivers to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield for treatment.
Their current condition is unknown at this time. The accident led to the closure of the northbound lanes until approximately 8:15 p.m. after state investigators cleared the scene. The report of the car accident showed that the LPD had the assistance of law enforcement and state agencies.
The Lenox Fire Department, Massachusetts State Police from the Lee Barracks, and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section assisted. Others at the scene include the State Police Crime Scene Service Section and a representative of the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office.
The LPD wants witnesses to come forward and contact them at the station or through the listed line.
