An update to an accident report from early this week revealed that the authorities identified the 11-year-old girl who died in a traffic collision in Selma, California. On Tuesday, May 12th, they revealed her name as Brianna Sanchez.
The young girl died from the injuries sustained in the multiple collision that occurred on Sunday afternoon, May 10th, at about 1:20 p.m. The crash, according to the California Highway Patrol, took place precisely on Highway 99 near Mountain View Avenue.

Investigators said that the event that led to the collision began with Deudiel Ramirez, 60, of Dinuba. The man was driving a big rig on the northbound lane of the highway when he failed to stop in time to avoid the slow traffic ahead of him.
The big rig crashed into five vehicles, including a 2004 Lincoln Navigator, driven, by 17-year-old Alejandro Sanchez. Brianna was a passenger in the car and she died at the scene. The other occupants of the vehicle identified as Araceli Hernandez, 32, Alejandro Sanchez Jr., 38, Jesus, 14, and Emmett Sanchez, 5, all sustained moderate to major injuries.
Others involved in the accident include Jose Cardenas, 61, the driver of a 2017 GMC van, and Katina Hulse, 47, and her passenger, Lisa Jones 57, both traveling in a 2020 Infiniti QX60. The trio had minor to moderate wounds.
Guillermo Sotelo Jr., 29, the driver of a ’90 Toyota pickup, and his passengers, Guillermo Sotelo Sr., 54, Miguel, 4, and Jordan Sotelo, 2, were also involved in the collision. They sustained minor injuries, and received treatment at the scene, while the medics took the others to a hospital.
There is no additional information in the accident report update, and the investigation remains active.
