As he attempted to cross Texas 16, he was hit first by a Dodge Ram truck on the passenger side. Then a Toyota Camry hit the driver’s side of Anderton’s Challenger a moment later.
Anderton was pronounced dead at the scene approximately 30 minutes after emergency personnel arrived. The San Antonio Fire Department had to cut Anderton from the vehicle due to the severity of the accident.
The names of the drivers of the other two vehicles are not being released at this time. It was not clear if they sustained injuries in the accident. The San Antonio Police Department did release that no criminal charges are pending for the accident.
It did not appear that drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident. The SAPD is still investigating the accident, but an autopsy will reveal the cause of Anderton’s death. At this time, the car accident is being ruled as an accident.
