The Chevrolet was attempting to turn to the right and head east when it hit her. Officials from the Orange County Fire Authority and Paramedics rushed to the scene, where they found the deceased lying on the roadway after the accident. They pronounced her dead at the scene.
Accident reports also confirmed that the driver of the Chevrolet, a 39-year-old man, stopped after he hit the woman, and cooperated with authorities.
Meanwhile, investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
Pedestrians are advised to look carefully before crossing a road. They should look to their left and their right before crossing. They should also keep to the pedestrian walkway when they are on the road.
Drivers should also be patient and wait for pedestrians to cross before driving off. They should also watch well and ensure that the road is free before making a turn, by checking for oncoming vehicles and crossing pedestrians.
These steps, if well adhered to, would go a long way to reduce the number of pedestrian road accidents.
