Spruner was heading east on the highway when he drifted into the westbound lanes and had a head-on collision with a 2020 Toyota SUV driven by May. The woman had minor injuries, and the medics treated and discharged her at the scene of the accident.
The male driver sustained non-life-threatening wounds, and went with the paramedics to Adventist Health Sonora, for treatment. CHP investigators in searching for the cause of the collision determined that Spruner was driving under the influence and arrested him on suspicion of DUI.
There is currently no additional information on the charge against the man, or if May plans to bring a personal injury lawsuit against him. The accident remains under investigation.
A two-vehicle collision is not uncommon in California, and it is one of the most frequent causes of accidents recorded. It comes in the form of a head-on or rear-ends collision, and depending on the impact, it can lead to fatal injuries.
Those involved in two-vehicle collisions should contact a car injury lawyer to discuss their rights and liabilities.
