A heated argument at a Tucson gas station Saturday night culminated when one of the men involved fatally struck another with a vehicle and fled the scene, according to authorities.
Forty-one-year-old Jesus A. Quevedo, of Tucson, was pronounced dead at an area hospital not long after the incident, which occurred at about 6 p.m. Saturday, the Tucson Police Department reported. No other injuries were listed in car accident reports, but the driver of the SUV involved in the crash was arrested on multiple charges.

Tucson police said in a press release that Quevedo at 6 p.m. Saturday was fighting with another man, whose name was not released, at a gas station on West Valencia Road. As the fight continued, the man got into the passenger’s seat of a vehicle operated by 27-year-old Adrian G. Manriquez, of Tucson, car accident reports state.
Quevedo and the man continued arguing, and Manriquez eventually joined the fight, police said. Authorities said Quevedo then walked in front of Manriquez’ vehicle and struck the hood with his hands.
At that point, “Mr. Manriquez accelerated, striking Mr. Quevedo and continued driving, fleeing the scene,” police said in the release.
Emergency responders transported Quevedo to Banner University Medical Center, where he later was pronounced dead, car accident reports state.
Manriquez was arrested at his home later Saturday night, police said. He faces charges of leaving the scene of a fatal crash and second-degree homicide.
It is unclear from court records available Monday whether Manriquez still is being held at the Pima County Jail.
