Investigators gathered that at about 2 p.m. a Toyota Camry was driving through the south lanes of travel on University, headed for an intersection. The Camry, operated by 84-year-old June Liker, was trying to turn left onto 87th at the intersection when a northbound Chevrolet Camaro struck it. The Camaro was reportedly traveling northbound, in the 8700 block of University Avenue.
As a result of the impact, the Camry swerved off the roadway and smashed into a utility pole on the northeast side of the intersection. The vehicle sustained serious damages.
First responders found the elderly woman unresponsive with major injuries. They pronounced her deceased not long after their arrival. The motorist operating the Camaro, identified as Ehvan Reyna, a 20-year-old female, received minor injuries. She refused to be attended to by the emergency response team.
It remains unclear which of the motorists bears the fault in the fatal wreck, which is still under investigation.
A car accident lawyer can conduct an independent probe to ascertain the liability. Once established, the victim can seek damages for losses incurred by filing a lawsuit for injuries or wrongful death.
