According to the report by the Illinois State Police, Templeton ran off the road and ended up in a ditch near the intersection of the two roads. The reason that she ran off the road has yet to be fully determined.
There was only one passenger in the van with Templeton, 64-year-old Mickey Templeton. The relationship between the two was not stated, but it seems as if they may be husband and wife.
They were both wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. They did receive moderate injuries due to the accident. They were transported by emergency personnel to Blessing Hospital for treatment.
The Illinois State Police issued Julie a citation for failure to reduce speed in order to avoid the accident.
There have not been any updates as to the status of the couple’s condition from the injuries that they sustained. If the airbags deployed in the van, that could be the cause for the extensive injuries the couple experienced in the accident.
The Illinois State Police were assisted by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office with the accident. They were also supported by the Adams County Ambulance Service, Payson Fire Department and the Hull/Kinderhook Fire Department.
