The teen was driving a Toyota 4 Runner at the time. Orozco was driving a Ford F150 and traveling in the opposite lane. As the two vehicles drew together, Orozco left his lane and entered into the path of the oncoming traffic. It was then that his vehicle collided with the Toyota.
The teen driver sustained critical injuries to the head and was ejected from the vehicle following the collision. Once the first responders arrived on the scene of the crash, he was provided basic medical treatment before being airlifted to a hospital.
Orozco suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the collision. After hitting the Toyota 4 Runner, his vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in a roadside field.
Preliminary investigations by the Oceanside Police show that Orozco was under the influence at the time of the crash. Based on these initial findings, he has been charged with felony DUI with injury. Subsequent accident reports may reveal Orozco’s blood alcohol levels when the accident occurred.
