A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash that occurred in the Wayne County on Saturday, September 26. The incident took place in the afternoon and was reported to the authorities at around 4:00 p.m as per the accident reports. The deceased was identified as Jonathan Stanley, 36, of Fairfield, Illinois.
According to the details shared by the authorities, the fatal incident happened on the U.S. Highway 45, close to the village of Geff. Stanley was driving in the northbound lanes of the highway at the time. As he drew close to the intersection of CA 1125 N, he was hit in the rear by a second vehicle.

This second vehicle was identified as a semi. The impact of the collision caused significant damage to the car Stanley was driving. He sustained critical injuries in the collision. Once the first responders and paramedics arrived on scene, he was rushed to the Fairfield Memorial Hospital. Attempts were made to revive him but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The driver of the semi was identified by the Illinois State Police as Todd Bosler, 57, of Sandoval. Bosler remained uninjured in the crash. Preliminary investigations by the ISP revealed that Bosler’s negligence contributed to the crash. He was issued a citation for driving too fast for conditions.
ISP continues to investigate the incident. The northbound lanes of the highway were closed to traffic for nearly four hours after the crash as the authorities conducted on-site cleanup and investigations. Subsequent accident reports by ISP may be released once investigations conclude.
