A car injury attorney would be needed after a man knocked down a pedestrian in Madera, California. The authorities identified the man involved in the Sunday, April 12th, accident as Jose David Zaragoza, 19.
The preliminary accident report showed that the man was driving a Kia on Road 26 north of Madera when he struck an unidentified 55-year-old woman. The deceased was pushing a shopping cart at about 10:30 p.m. when the accident occurred.

Zaragoza left the scene, and he would later tell the authorities that he was not aware he struck the woman. When the teenager got home, he saw the damage done to his car and returned to the scene of the accident.
The young man met the California Highway Patrol officers at the scene and cooperated with them. The woman Zaragoza struck died from her wounds, and the investigators are trying to determine liability.
So far, the authorities have not discovered what led to the accident. Finding out if the teenager was negligent in any way would help the police decide whether to charge him with an offense or issue him a ticket.
Hit-and-run accidents are caused by distracted, negligent, or impaired drivers, and failure to yield to pedestrians is also a factor. Authorities have advised motorists to give the right of way to pedestrians at all times.
Drivers should drive within the speed limit in residential, business, or school districts. Pedestrians, on their part, should cross the road using a crosswalk or zebra crossing, and stick to the sidewalk when walking.
Those involved in an accident as a victim or offender should contact a car injury attorney to find out their rights and liabilities.
