A fire outbreak in a home happens for reasons ranging from the negligence of homeowners to faulty electrical equipment. One of the most common causes of house fires is overheated cooking equipment on gas cookers or hot plates.
Another cause is heating during winter; keep portable heaters at least one meter away from flammable materials like curtains, laundry, furniture, and clothes. Fire accident reports also show that smoking in the bedroom, electrical equipment with frayed cords, candles, and curious children can also cause a fire outbreak.
The Kern County Fire Department has asked residents of the county to keep flammable substances away from the reach of children. Homeowners should turn off cookers, and electrical appliances when not in use, and have a working fire alarm.
