A female witness called into the San Antonio Police when she saw the Mitsubishi hit another vehicle and take off. She stated that she had tried to follow the vehicle, but the driver was too fast getting away from her and she could not keep up.
Finally, the San Antonio Police received a final call regarding the vehicle in question. There was a single-vehicle accident that had occurred near a car wash on Callaghan and Evers Road on San Antonio’s Northwest Side.
When the police arrived at the scene of the accident, they found that Garcia had crossed the intersection of Evers Road while driving on Callaghan Road and hit a utility pole.
After the utility pole, the vehicle was pushed into a small retaining wall and went airborne.
The Mitsubishi then slammed into a nearby tree and rolled.
After searching the scene of the accident, officers concluded Garcia had not been wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. His body was also partially ejected from the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident due to the extensive nature of his injuries.
San Antonio Police are still conducting an investigation as to why Garcia was acting as erratically as he was. They have not stated if alcohol and/or drugs were involved in the accident. There were no other injuries reported due to Garcia’s reckless driving.
