The fatal crash occurred on Sunday, April 12th, at about 4:55 p.m. near the southern tip of Lake Berryessa. Armstrong and a group of friends were in the area riding their motorcycles when he failed to round a corner properly.
The CHP disclosed that the deceased’s motorcycle overturned and slid to a stop against a guardrail. The young man sustained significant injuries that claimed his life. The crash led to the closure of Highway 128 in both directions for about 45 minutes.
The authorities reopened the highway at about 6:30 p.m. after concluding the preliminary investigation and clearing the scene. The investigators do not believe that Armstrong was under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or a combination of both at the time of the crash.
There are over 800 000 registered motorcycle riders in California, and most bike accident reports show that the motorcyclist is usually impaired while riding. The authorities have advised bikers to put their safety and that of other road users first, by ensuring they never drink and ride.
