The investigators said that for unknown reasons, the car went off the road close to the bridge’s edge, and struck a railing. Soldiers responded to the 911 call about the accident before the first responders arrived.
The two teens from Alvarado sustained extensive injuries that claimed their lives at the accident site. Underwood suffered severe injuries, and the medics took her to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. The investigation is ongoing, and the TDPS will provide additional information at a later time.
Motor vehicle accidents are not uncommon in Texas and the United States, and a solo crash is one of the most common types. Others are two-vehicle crashes, vehicle-versus-pedestrian accidents, vehicle-versus-motorcycle crashes, and multiple vehicle collisions.
The factors that contribute to the preceding include impairments, speeding, wrong-way driving, distracted driving, illegal lane change, underlying medical condition, and manufacturer’s defect. Traffic officials advise drivers to cultivate safety habits while on the road and report car accidents when they occur.
