At the same time, a male motorist, Cash Rencanzone, of Peoria, Arizona, was heading south in a Fiat 500. The investigators said that for unknown reasons, the driver went into the northbound lane, and struck the Nissan from behind.
The rear-end collision’s impact caused the vehicle to drift, and it ended up in a dirt embankment. The car also struck a tree, leaving Bustamante and an unidentified female with fatal wounds. The first responders declared the two dead at the scene.
Rencanzone ran from the accident site on foot, and an unnamed witness ran after and caught him. The police arrested the driver, and they are holding him on undisclosed charges. So far, the investigators have ruled out alcohol or drugs as factors in the accident.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and anyone with relevant information should contact the Santa Fe Springs Office of the California Highway Patrol. Those with liabilities in a two-vehicle collision should hire auto accident attorneys for legal advice and representation.
