Milovanovic on Saturday morning was riding his bike on the shoulder of East Happy Valley Road near 91st Street, according to police. Car accident reports released by local authorities lack details about a specific time of the event.
While Milovanovic was riding his bike, an SUV driver was traveling on Happy Valley Road, police said. The driver, whose name was not included in car accident reports, drifted off the roadway and onto the shoulder, where it struck Milovanovic’s bicycle.
Emergency medical services personnel transported Milovanovic to a nearby hospital, authorities said. However, he succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead soon after.
The Scottsdale Police Department continues to investigate the incident. Authorities on Monday did not say whether factors like speed or inattentive driving are thought to have contributed to the incident. However, police told local media outlets that they do not suspect the involvement of intoxicants.
Scottsdale police have not announced any citations or charges in connection to the incident. Police also did not say whether the SUV driver suffered any injuries.
