The accident happened on Saturday, February 15 around 7:40 p.m. on the 2700 block of 14th Street. Robinson had been walking down the sidewalk and had to step in the road due to a car backing out of a driveway.
When he stepped into the road, a car that was traveling down 14th Street hit him.
The driver of the vehicle stopped and the passenger in the vehicle got out. The driver nor the passenger stopped to check on Robinson. The passenger fled from the scene on foot and the driver sped away from the scene.
Emergency personnel rushed Robinson to the hospital after the accident. Hospital staff pronounced him dead shortly after arrival.
The severity of his injuries was not made public. Blunt force trauma is typical in hit-and-run accidents involving a pedestrian.
The Department of Public Safety is now trying to find answers for the family. They are seeking to find the driver and the passenger of the suspected vehicle. The problem they are encountering is that there are no credible descriptions available. They are seeking help from the community to help solve this crime.
They are hoping to receive credible tips to lead to an arrest.
Michael Adams, Robinson’s stepson, described him as a kind man.
He said that Robinson would have given his own shirt to someone who needed it. He is hoping that someone out there will return the kindness. He is hoping that hearing the story will help uncover the person(s) responsible.
