The teenager who appeared to be a wrong-way driver on the roadway’s westbound lanes overtook several vehicles at an undetermined speed rate. At the same time, Easley, operated a white 2015 Chevrolet 3500 pickup westbound on SR-299, approaching the first vehicle.
The investigators said that the juvenile driver tried to overtake a white 2015 3 axle semi-truck and collided head-on with the victim’s car. The collision impact sent the teenager’s vehicle into the air, and it crashed against the left-rear end of the semi upon descent. Both vehicles rested on the westbound lane, blocking the path of other motorists.
The teen driver sustained a fatal wound, and medics declared her dead at the crash site. They treated Easley for minor injuries and released him at the scene, while the driver of the semi-truck went unscathed. The roadway remained closed for an hour and 15 minutes, while the CHP cleared debris.
The investigators said that they have not determined if drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision. The inquiry into the incident remains active, and anyone with further information can contact the highway patrol on the listed line.
