However, Spurlock continued along the bridge and onto the South McArthur Highway. He continued to ride his motorcycle on the highway until he came to the West Millman Street intersection. It was at this intersection that Spurlock’s motorcycle collided with another vehicle.
The precise cause of the accident is not clear at this time. It is not known whether the accident occurred because Spurlock was speeding or if the other driver was negligent. In any case, the other vehicle involved in the accident left the crash site.
Spurlock sustained critical injuries in the collision. He was rushed to the OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center. However, attempts to revive him failed and he died of his injuries at the medical facility.
Police continues to look for the other driver involved in the crash as of Monday. Subsequent accident reports may show whether or not the incident is deemed a hit-and-run accident.
