Knox’s five-year-old daughter was in the 2012 Chevy Suburban and later died.
The crash happened around 4 p.m. as Knox drove the wrong way on Cornville Road and collided head-on with a 2007 Ford F-150.
Witnesses reported seeing Knox’s vehicle weaving and crossing over the centerline multiple times.
Copper Canyon Fire and Verde Valley Fire had to use hydraulic tools to extricate individuals from both vehicles
Knox, her daughter, and a 37-year-old man suffered serious injuries, accident reports stated.
Both drivers were taken to Flagstaff Medical Center.
Meanwhile, Knox’s daughter who was reportedly not in a car seat, was taken to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. She suffered from internal bleeding and had to be placed on life support. She was subsequently taken off life support and pronounced dead.
A press release from the sheriff’s office said a blood test revealed that there was THC in Knox’s system. She reportedly admitted to using medical marijuana and pain pills.
Knox was arrested on Thursday on charges of manslaughter, two counts of aggravated DUI, and criminal damage, among other charges.
She was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center.
No current information was provided about the other driver’s condition.
