Two people died early on Friday after a head-on crash occurred on Interstate 5 close to the Sacramento International Airport.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified one of them as 60-year-old James Raymond Fristoe of Bieber.

The California Highway Patrol said a wrong-way driver was involved in the accident that occurred just before 12:45 a.m. near Power Line Road.
According to Spokesman for CHP North Sacramento, Officer A.J. McTaggart, the vehicle that was going the wrong way was a 2003 Subaru Outback. It was driven by a 49-year-old man from Sonoma.
It struck Fristoe’s 1992 Honda Accord, killing both drivers at the scene, accident reports state.
A 56-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Honda suffered serious injuries. She was transported to UC Davis Medical Center.
The coroner’s office has not yet revealed the names of the other deceased driver or the injured woman. The driver’s is likely to be publicly identified after his next of kin is notified.
It is not yet clear why the Sonoma man was going to wrong way, but more information could also be provided in this regard.
The crash caused the closure of Southbound I-5 for several hours.
