Phoenix Fire, who was part of the first responders, said that they found the man unresponsive and pronounced him dead. Vazquez’s 22-year-old male passenger survived the crash with severe injuries, and the medics took him to a hospital for treatment.
The driver of the RV suffered minor wounds, and the police evaluated her for signs of impairment but found none. The accident’s cause is under investigation, and the PPD requested a toxicology test to determine if the fatal victim was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the occurrence.
Speed and intoxication are two of the leading causes of motor vehicle accidents in Arizona and the United States. Often, speed is a resultant effect of impaired driving, and the latter also births recklessness. Intoxication affects a person’s cognitive abilities, which in turn affects their judgment.
Drivers can prevent the above by ensuring they have less than .08 percent blood alcohol concentration. Anyone at that number or more should seek alternative means of transportation and avoid going behind the wheel.
