Authorities have deemed a former Oregon woman accused of driving her through crowd on a Las Vegas sidewalk has been deemed unfit for her upcoming murder trial.
Twenty-nine-year-old Lakeisha N. Holloway, who reportedly arrived in Las Vegas from Portland just days before the December 2015 crash, faces murder and dozens of other felony charges, authorities said. Investigators believe Holloway intentionally drove her vehicle into a throng of pedestrians, injuring more than 30 and killing Buckley, Ariz., resident Jessica Valenzuela, 32.

Holloway is being represented by a car injury lawyer who was appointed by court officials to aid in her defense.
Prosecutors allege Holloway was under the influence of marijuana Dec. 20, 2015, when she drove – her 3-year-old child as a passenger – onto a sidewalk near the Planet Hollywood casino-hotel. Dozens suffered serious injuries, including Valenzuela, who ultimately died.
Authorities took Holloway into custody and brought dozens of felony charges against her. However, questions about her mental state kicked off years of back-and-forth proceedings as court authorities debated whether she was fit to endure a trial.
Court officials reportedly scheduled proceedings that would have begun last week. However, in mid-March, Holloway again was deemed unfit for trial and all proceedings were delayed indefinitely.
It’s unclear when the trial date will be rescheduled. Her car injury lawyer as insisted that proceeding without her being mentally cleared would violate her constitutional rights, according to local media reports.
