A man in Danvers, Massachusetts, escaped with his life after a Jeep Wrangler crashed into his condo on Wednesday afternoon, May 20th. The accident report disclosed the victim’s name as Qiming Zou.

The police said that Zou, who was working from home, was only a few feet from where the vehicle stopped after breaching the condo. The latter is part of an apartment complex called Meadows, on Garden street.

Zou told investigators that he was concentrating on a task from work when he heard a loud thud. The surprised man overcame his shock quickly and rushed to turn off the ignition of the Jeep. Next, he checked on the driver who was moaning and dialed 911.

The first responders arrived within minutes and took the injured driver out of the wrecked vehicle. The paramedics attended to the motorist identified as a 39-year-old male from Peabody at the scene, but there’s no record of them transporting him to the hospital.

The investigators suspect that the man had a medical issue before the crash, and Danvers Police Chief Patrick Ambrose said in a press release that alcohol or drugs are not contributing factors. The injured motorist will get cited for negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

The accident report also disclosed that Zou’s home sustained extensive damage. Danvers Fire Lieutenant Linus Murphy said it is inhabitable for the time being. The victim would have to live elsewhere pending repairs, and he can bring a civil lawsuit against the Jeep driver for compensation of the loss suffered.
