On Tuesday, May 19th, aggrieved family members of Pwar Gay filed a negligence lawsuit against a food company in Amarillo, Texas, for her death from COVID-19. The victim worked for the Amarillo Tyson Foods until the days leading to her death.
The court documents showed that the woman died due to the negligent act of the company. The lawsuit alleged that Gay injured her knees and came down with the virus because Tyson did not provide adequate safety measures for its staff.

The lawsuit also points out that different staff members at the Amarillo plant contracted COVID-19. Following the filling, a federal judge issued a summons for Tyson Foods, but there’s no information on whether they have responded.
Gay’s family is asking for compensation for the financial loss they suffered from her death, and the mental anguish they went through. The exact amount they are asking for is not available at the time of this report.
In the United States, negligence is a failure to exercise appropriate and (or) ethical ruled care expected in certain circumstances. A person who suffers loss for the negligent act of another can sue to recover damages to compensate for the harm suffered.
A plaintiff in a negligence lawsuit must prove that the defendant owed him or her a duty of care and breached the duty through an act or culpable omission. The person would also prove that he or she suffered a loss because of the act or omission, and the injury sustained is a reasonably foreseeable consequence of the defendant’s act or omission.
