Forty-two-year-old William P. Bishop, of Chicago, was westbound in the 11500 block of Vanderkarr Road when he lost control of his vehicle, according to deputies. Bishop’s jeep crossed the centerline and traveled into the eastbound lane of the road, where it crashed head-on into a vehicle operated by Miller, according to car accident reports.
The crashed caused Miller’s vehicle to roll over, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene while his passenger, identified in car accident reports only as a 56-year-old McHenry man, was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries considered life-threatening, authorities said.
Car accident reports state Bishop also was seriously injured in the wreck. Updated condition reports regarding Miller’s passenger and Bishop weren’t available Sunday afternoon.
The incident remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies said it is still unclear what caused Bishop to lose control of his vehicle and cross the centerline. Car accident reports state toxicology reports still are pending.
Authorities issued Bishop a citation for improper lane usage. He is due back in court in mid-July, authorities said.
