On Sunday, May 31st, a day of fun and relaxation turned nearly fatal for a Glennville child after a near-fatal crash in Lake Sinclair, Georgia, an accident report states. On Monday, June 1st, Sgt. Bo. Kelly, with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division, said in a news briefing that the victim is Tylee Miles, 11.
The female child was in the company of others riding a rubber tube behind a pontoon boat. The latter was heading towards The Junction, the central hub of the lake. It is located east of US H-441 at the mouth of the Oconee and Little Rivers.

At the same time, another pontoon boat was coming towards the one towing Miles, and the former ended up striking the latter. The collision’s impact left the victim with several lacerations, and she also suffered a broken bone down her right leg from hitting the boat’s propeller.
Kelly said that firefighters with the Baldwin County Fire Rescue and personnel with the Grady Emergency Medical Services provided first aid to Miles. Then the paramedics used an Air-Evac helicopter to fly her to a hospital in Macon. From there, medical personnel transferred the girl to the Children’s Health Center in Atlanta.
The accident report also showed that the DNR is actively investigating the accident, and there’s currently no information on whether those piloting the boats will get charged. There is no information on whether alcohol and speed played a role in the accident, and the authorities will release an update once they have more details.
