The vehicle was heading west on Curnow; it stopped at a stop sign at Union, entered the intersection, and continued westbound. At the same time, a man whom the California Highway Patrol identified as Terry Taylor, 54, was driving a Nissan Titan at 55 mph south on Union.
The authorities said that after Rai crossed the intersection, he collided with the Titan; he told the investigators he didn’t see the vehicle. The collision left Singh, who was sitting in the right rear passenger side with severe wounds that he died from, and the paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
The driver of the Sentra sustained minor injuries, while a right-front passenger sustained severe wounds. The medics took the two to the Kern Medical Center for treatment. The accident report also disclosed that Taylor and the occupants of the Titan had minor wounds and refused treatment.
The collision led to the closure of Union Avenue’s southbound lanes, and the investigators reopened the roadway after collecting evidence and clearing debris. The investigation remains ongoing.
