The CHP said that the 48-year-old Desert Hot Springs resident driving the Ford remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The inquiry is ongoing, and anyone with relevant information should contact the highway patrol on the listed line.
Auto-pedestrian accidents are not uncommon on California roadways, with more people walking to places, as a form of exercise and an alternative to driving. While drivers mostly bear the liability in this type of collision, pedestrians also play a role.
Thus, the two sides of the divide must mitigate auto-pedestrian crashes by promoting habits that increase safety. For pedestrians, this covers walking on the sidewalks and using only designated crosswalks, while drivers must yield to those on foot, reduce speed, and stop before entering intersections.
