A woman pleaded guilty on Friday, September 25, in a fatal crash that caused the death of her husband. She was identified as Ingeborg Binninger aged 69. Binninger was driving under the influence when the incident occurred more than a year ago on April 16, 2019.
According to the details shared by the authorities, Binninger was traveling along the Mountain View Road at some distance from the Desert Hot Springs. As her vehicle drew close to the Club House Driver, Binninger collided with a second vehicle. It isn’t clear whether this was a head-on vehicle or a T-bone collision at an intersection.

Binninger was traveling with her husband, Douglas Binninger aged 64, at the time. Douglas sustained critical injuries in the collision and died. Two people traveling in the other vehicle which Binninger hit also sustained serious injuries. One of the injured persons had to suffer from permanent damage because of these injuries.
In the wake of the crash, CHP troopers found that Binninger was drunk. Her blood alcohol level was found to be at 0.13%, well above the legal limit in California.
A number of charges were brought against Binninger following investigations. These included DUI with bodily injury, DUI gross vehicular manslaughter, driving with blood alcohol content exceeding the legal limit, and more.
Ingeborg Binninger pleaded guilty to these charges on Friday. She is expected to be sentenced on October 2, Friday. Based on the charges against her, Binninger can face prison time of up to nearly 13 years. Subsequent accident reports from the court may reveal the actual sentence in her case.
