The accident was caused by a truck that was swerving on the road and hit two other cars around it. The diplomats were taken from the accident site to Broke Army Hospital in San Antonio according to the Indonesian Embassy.

The United States Diplomatic Security Services informed the Indonesian Embassy in Washington, DC that the accident involved the truck, the vehicle carrying the diplomats, and an additional vehicle.

The diplomats inside the car were identified as Houston’s Indonesian consul general Nana Yuliana, a consular officer named Dian Hapsari, and the driver of the vehicle who was only identified as Dede.

Officials from the Indonesian Consulate General in Houston traveled to San Antonio to make sure that Yuliana was in stable condition as he was being further examined in an emergency room with the driver, Dede.

Consular Hapsari was in the intensive care unit receiving treatment for fractured ribs that he sustained in the accident.

There have been no reports released about the driver of the truck that caused the accident. It is unclear what initially caused the truck to swerve on the road and hit the other two cars. Reports have not been released about the second car involved in the accident at this time either.

There is a possibility that the driver of the truck receives a citation for the accident and the injuries of the diplomats. Depending on the reason behind the reckless driving, the driver could be facing some serious penalties.

The families of the diplomats were making the 3-hour journey from Houston to San Antonio to be with the diplomats.
