PLAYA DEL REY, CA – A hit-and-run driver killed a mother and sent her three-year-old son to the hospital as they attempted to cross the street in Playa del Rey on Saturday, local news reports.
The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Vista Del Mar as they were leaving a family bonfire. The 33-year-old woman shielded her son from the impact and he was released from the hospital on Sunday. The mother died at the scene.
Police are searching for the Toyota 4Runner that fled the scene after causing the fatal accident.
