Migdalia, of West Plains, Missouri, and his passenger, who is a juvenile, were traveling westbound on Interstate 70 in Effingham County, Illinois. Migdalia and the female passenger, who is from Hollister, Missouri, were traveling in a 2018 Infiniti SUV in the right lane.
Derek A. Boxdorfer, 34, was driving a 2017 International semi-truck in the left westbound lane of the interstate. Boxdorfer, of Kampsville, Illinois, then attempted to merge into the right lane. However, Boxdorfer said he did not see Migdalia’s SUV in the right lane, according to a report from the Illinois State Police.

Emergency medical services responded to the scene. Emergency responders then transported both Migdalia and the minor to HSHS St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham, Illinois, according to the state troopers. However, authorities have not provided details on their injuries or their conditions.
