Terry, of Sandoval, Illinois, was driving a white mail route delivery truck. The accident happened around 1:05 p.m. Friday.
Terry’s vehicle had come to a stop because he was about to turn left into a private driveway to make a delivery. He was waiting for the southbound traffic to pass before making the turn.
However, Wynn, who was driving a black 2007 Ford Focus behind Terry’s vehicle, failed to stop. The impact forced Terry’s vehicle off the road and right into a ditch. Wynn’s vehicle then came to rest on the right side of the road.
The Sandoval County Fire Department responded to the crash. Fire department officials then transported Terry to St. Mary’s Hospital, which is in Centralia, Illinois.
Ramona Forbes, 60, of Vernon, Illinois, was a passenger in Wynn’s vehicle. Wynn is also from Vernon. It is still unknown if Forbes or Wynn suffered any injuries.
Authorities have cited Wynn with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
