Garner died at the scene of the crash on East Oglethorpe Highway while Frasier died in a hospital.
This was confirmed by Georgia State Patrol Trooper Markus White.
Frasier was traveling west in the eastbound lane of the highway around 10:30 p.m. when he collided head-on with the Chevy Malibu that Garner was driving.
Frasier and Garner’s unnamed passenger were flown to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah by medical helicopter.
Frasier died a little after 1 a.m. on Tuesday. The passenger’s condition is not publicly known.
White revealed that Garner was not wearing a seatbelt while Frasier was wearing his improperly.
Meanwhile, the driver of a tractor trailer failed to see the accident ahead of him and he sideswiped the pickup truck.
White said the tractor trailer ended up in a ditch, but the driver was uninjured. The driver’s name was not released.
The road was subsequently blocked to all traffic. Members of the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team investigated the crash for several hours.
More information could be released in subsequent accident reports as the investigation progresses.
Depending on the findings, one of the victim’s family may seek help from a car accident lawyer so they can claim compensation for their loved one’s death.
