The crash report showed that the Yucaipa resident was northbound on Bryant Street when his Ford utility truck crashed into the postal service vehicle near Avenue D around 5:49 p.m. The driver of the mail truck suffered significant injuries.
Medics rushed the motorist to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he remained in stable condition as of Monday. The police believe that Torrez was driving before the collision, and arrested him near the crash site.
Deputies detained the man at the West Valley Detention Center in place of a $100 000 bail bond. They charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol and causing bodily injuries, and he would need a drunk driving attorney’s service.
