Another Southern California pedestrian versus car accident claimed the life of Carlos Robles, 29, a Carson resident.
Police responded to a car versus pedestrian accident on the Pacific Coast Highway and Caspian Way in Long Beach at about 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male pedestrian — identified later as Robles — with injuries to his upper torso. Paramedics transported him to the local hospital in critical condition where he later died from his injuries.
An initial police investigation revealed that two vehicles may have hit Robles.
The first vehicle, a 1998 Toyota Camry headed westbound on the Pacific Coast Highway when the driver, identified as a 56-year-old Wilmington resident, allegedly struck Robles as he crossed northbound in an unmarked area at Caspian Avenue. The driver stopped, remained on the scene, and cooperated with officers.
It is suspected a red Chevrolet Tahoe also struck Robles and fled the scene heading westbound. Police discovered the Tahoe, unoccupied, in Lomita at about 11:30 p.m.
