The accident killed Patland, and injured Lindstrom and his passenger, identified as a 28-year-old Milpitas woman. Paramedics took all three to Queen of the Valley Hospital where hospital personnel pronounced Patland dead at about 8 p.m. The Infiniti occupants suffered moderate to major injuries.
Authorities at the scene stated that Lindstrom showed signs of intoxication. Police administered breath and field sobriety tests at the scene, according to news reports. Police arrested Lindstrom, a Napa resident, on suspicion of driving under the influence causing bodily injury.
Currently, the DUI allegations are in connection with the Infiniti passenger’s injuries, and not Patland’s death. Charges have not been filed in connection with the death.
Authorities booked Lindstrom into Napa County Jail and released him Monday on $100,000 bail.
