Shortly after the incident, Efrain, the car driver, and Marciano, the front seat passenger, alighted and fled on foot. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Fernando spotting a head injury at the back seat with open and partially consumed beer bottles.
In a press release, the police said that the man had two citable zero bail warrants for a prior DUI, driving on a suspended license, and violating probation. Officers cited Fernando on his warrants and released him from the scene.
The officers then responded to the residence of the driver and front-seat passenger. At the 600-block of University Street, they found Marciano driving away. The lawmen stopped him and determined he was intoxicated.
The police also found that the man was on probation for a previous DUI and arrested him. Next, they located Efrain in his residence driveway and took him into custody on charges of felony DUI, felony hit-and-run, and violation of terms of probation.
The suspect was on two counts of probation for two prior DUIs. The HPD booked Efrain and Marciano into the Sonoma County Jail and towed the crashed vehicle from the scene.
