The Liggett Law Firm filed a lawsuit Friday, March 6, against Muscle Mayhem and three of its members. The family of 69-year-old Howard Wright is holding the car club and three of its members personally responsible for the wrongful death of Wright on February 24, 2020.
The lawsuit claims that three members of Muscle Mayhem were racing illegally along Slide Road, which was where the accident happened. The lawsuit specifically names 19-year-old Xavier Montalvo, 24-year-old Luis Salinas, and 28-year-old Anthony Martin.

Montalvo is said to have been operating a 2018 Dodge Charger in a race against Salinas and Martin going south on the 7400 block of Slide Road. The speed limit in that area is only 45 miles per hour. The defendants are accused of going well over 50 miles per hour above that posted speed limit.
Wright was sitting at a stop sign getting ready to turn when Montalvo crashed into his car going at least 94 miles per hour. Montalvo was arrested for racing on a highway causing death and manslaughter. Martin and Salinas were arrested for racing on a highway causing death.
The lawsuit also singles out Muscle Mayhem, which is a car club that operates mainly online. They recruit and facilitate the illegal races on the streets of Lubbock. Since the lawsuit, they have removed the videos and anything on the forum that could be considered associated with illegal racing.
The arrest warrants for the three suspects specifically states that the cars for all three of the men were seen before Muscle Mayhem took them down. The investigators also noted videos that promoted and displayed reckless acts.
The family is currently seeking over $1 million in the civil suit against the defendants.
