The medical examiner is finally revealing the name of the boy who died in an accident on March 6. The original news release regarding the accident indicated that the boy’s identity would be announced on Monday, March 9, but for unknown reasons, it was only recently available to the public.
The accident occurred near the intersection of El Camino Real and California Avenue when 11-year-old Paul Lafargue was struck and killed by a flatbed truck. The coroner has ruled his death an accident.

The family and friends of the Greene Middle School student now want to raise awareness about being safe on the road. They have formed an initiative in the community that they are calling “Slow Down for Kids”. The posters that they have created to place all over town have Lafargue’s favorite colors-orange and purple.
They want these signs to be a wake-up call to motorists, so they have made them big and bold.
A memorial walk is planned for this Saturday, March 14, at the Stanford Dish. The walk is to help support the Lafargue family. Thanks to the threat of sickness, they are asking that anyone exhibiting cold or flu symptoms to refrain from attending.
The family is also urging anyone who may want to be a part of the initiative to make a difference for better traffic education, signage on the streets, and speed limit enforcement, to email their city council. They also urge those who want to help to attend meetings to voice their concerns in person.
