A man involved in a March 10th accident was identified early on the 11th. 27-year-old Brian Shuck was driving along Vasco Road, going northbound around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
For reasons that have yet to be determined, Shuck began to drift over the double yellow lines and into the southbound lanes of traffic. Once in the southbound lane, he hit a box truck head-on with his Chevrolet pickup truck.

The impact of the collision caused the box truck to spin out on the road. A GMC SUV that was driving behind it crashed into it. The driver of the box truck and the SUV both complained of pain after the accident.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital as a precaution. Shuck was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident due to the injuries he sustained.
The California Highway Patrol had to close the road in both directions for close to four hours. They required this time for an accident reconstruction. This also allowed for them to clear the debris from the road.
The road was able to be reopened in both directions around 7:00 p.m. Motorists were forced to detour Vasco Road by taking Interstate 680.
It was not clear, based on the report, if Shuck was wearing a seatbelt. Police have not speculated if impairment or distraction caused the accident. They are currently still working on determining the cause of the accident.
