The Will County Coroner’s Office released a statement saying that after arriving at the hospital, Herrera was pronounced dead at 7:55 p.m.

Based on the news release, it is not clear if Herrera was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The police are perplexed as to the cause of the accident at this time.

There was no mention of the other driver in the statement. It is not clear if they sustained injuries in the accident with Herrera.

On Wednesday, an autopsy was performed. Based on their preliminary findings, more tests and studies need to be done. They were not able to determine the exact cause or manner in which Herrera died.

There is no mention that the Illinois State Police suspect that Herrera was under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the incident.
