Preliminary investigations into the accident uncovered that Koch was driving eastbound on Truitt Road when his vehicle left the northbound side of the road. The vehicle flipped multiple times before ejecting him from the vehicle.
Coroner’s reports indicate that Koch probably died instantly due to blunt force trauma from being ejected from the vehicle. The coroner is not performing an autopsy. A toxicology report has been ordered, and results are currently pending.
Based on evidence gathered at the scene, it is possible that impairment was a factor in the accident. However, nothing can be assumed until the toxicology report is final. The police are currently looking into why the vehicle left the road, to begin with.
The report did not indicate if Koch was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, but it is unlikely due to the ejection. This single-vehicle accident is currently being investigated.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and it appeared that Koch was alone in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
