A drunk driving attorney would come in handy for the man who caused an accident in Long Beach, California. 23-year-old Eric Munson was driving under the influence when he started the chain of events that claimed one life on Saturday, April 11th.
The preliminary accident report showed that Munson was driving a 2003 Nissan Altima on Canal Street when he struck a parked 1995 Toyota Tercel. The impact of the collision sent the vehicle straight into a parked semi-truck.

The driver of the Tercel, who the authorities only identified as a 56-year-old woman, sustained severe injuries that claimed her life. She was pronounced dead by the medics. Munson fled the scene of the accident, but the police soon apprehended him.
A field test showed that the young man was driving under the influence. The police arrested Munson, and charged him with felony DUI and felony hit-and-run. Both offenses are frowned at by the courts in California.
Drunk driving is one of the leading causes of fatalities in traffic accidents in California and the United States. Every day, about 30 people die from impaired driving. Impaired drivers often have their driver’s license taken away until a court determines otherwise.
When a death occurs like in this case, the District Attorney under California law can bring a vehicular manslaughter charge. The latter carries a sentence of two to ten years in state prison.
Anyone involved in a DUI accident should contact a drunk driving attorney for advice and legal representation.
